Chiropractic
Chiropractic care is a natural form of healthcare dating back to 1895. Based on the principle that the body is self-healing; chiropractic is designed to restore optimal function to the spine and nervous system so that your body can work the way it was designed to. Since your nervous system controls everything your body does, if there is interference in the nervous system, your body will not be able to function properly, and you will experience physical and emotional health disturbances. Our Highly Specific Approach At Evolving Health, we employ a highly specific and individualised approach to chiropractic care. Through the use of Applied Kinesiology muscle testing, posture analysis, palpation, and other targeted assessments, we evaluate your unique health concerns and needs. This allows us to pinpoint areas of misalignment and deliver precise chiropractic adjustments and other unique techniques exclusively to those regions requiring attention. As a result, your treatment is distinct from others and adapts with each visit to address your body’s evolving requirements. Our Techniques We specialise in adjustments of the full spine and extremities (shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles), complemented by drop piece, low force and activator adjusting when suitable. Our adjustments are guided by Applied Kinesiology muscle testing, which reveals where your body isn’t functioning optimally. Our Goals If you’re seeking relief from pain, discomfort, or limitations in activities you enjoy, our primary aim is to restore your functionality and alleviate pain as quickly as possible. However, our care extends beyond symptom relief. The human body constantly faces stress from three primary sources: physical, emotional, and chemical. Over time, these stressors can lead to subluxations—misalignments that impair function. Our methodology begins with restoring your health, then transitions into a vital maintenance phase. Through regular check-ups and tune-ups, we help you maintain optimal performance over the long term. Who wouldn’t want to feel their best consistently? Holistic Chiropractic Our unique approach to chiropractic care incorporates Applied Kinesiology testing in an effort to get to the deepest root cause of an issue. AK testing may determine the body needs postural correction, natural remedies such as herbs or nutrients, massage therapy, fascial therapy, exercise or other therapies to provide your body all the natural care it needs to heal and thrive. In addition, we will work with your other healthcare providers to ensure you’re getting the best allied health or medical support when needed. Pediatric Chiropractic At evolving health chiropractic, we understand how important your child’s health is. We are dedicated to providing personalized, compassionate care to help them function at their best. Because our approach to care is neurologically based, we help support your child’s neuro-spinal system, improving the body’s natural ability to heal and regulate itself. Dr. Christina is passionate about helping children of all ages, from days-old newborns to older teens. She has pursued advanced training in pediatric care through the post graduate study from Australia Chiropractic pediatrics program. Gentle Care for Infants The early stages of life are crucial for growth and development. Chiropractic care can help infants overcome common concerns such as feeding difficulties, colic, reflux, and developmental delays. By working with the nervous system through chiropractic adjustments, we promote optimal function and development, giving your newborn a solid foundation for lifelong health. Supporting Healthy Growth As kids grow, their bodies go through constant changes—from learning to walk to developing fine motor skills. Chiropractic care helps maintain optimal spinal health, supports immune function, and can improve posture and balance. Whether your child is experiencing growing pains, frequent colds, gut issues or simply needs assistance with their posture, we are here to help. Keeping Teens Active and Aligned Teenagers face unique challenges, including rapid growth, sports injuries, and the stress of school and social activities. Chiropractic adjustments help alleviate discomfort caused by growing pains, sports injuries, and poor posture from long hours spent sitting at desks or using screens. Our care promotes spinal health and optimal nervous system function, supporting your teen’s ability to thrive in both academics and physical activities.

Applied Kinesiology
(AK)
It’s always a goal to offer our people the latest and greatest care, and Applied Kinesiology (AK) is no exception. AK is a scientific and clinically based unique technique that utilises manual muscle testing to communicate directly with the brain, providing valuable insights into the body’s needs and imbalances. It is used by a wide section of licensed healthcare professionals around the world including doctors of chiropractic, osteopath, medicine and dentistry to name a few. AK is the advanced diagnostic tool renowned for its holistic approach and ability to get to the root cause of an issue. Understanding Applied Kinesiology Applied kinesiology involves the chiropractor testing the strength of specific muscles and engaging in a dialogue with the body by applying pressure to different areas or having the patient perform specific movements. By evaluating the neurological function with observation of the body’s response, the chiropractor gains valuable information about areas of stress or imbalance. This safe and non-invasive method helps identify where corrections are needed, leading to targeted and effective treatment. The methodology focuses primarily on neuromuscular function as it relates to the structural, chemical and neurological regulatory systems in the body. Muscle testing is a valuable tool in evaluating the nervous system and it’s effect on the patient's health, helping AK practitioners identify areas of dysfunction in the delicate interplay of the sensory and the motor system. Holistic Analysis and Benefits One of the key benefits of offering applied kinesiology is its holistic approach to healthcare. Not only does it allow us to assess and address musculoskeletal issues, but it also provides insights into the function of internal organs and other body systems. Different muscles correspond to different parts of the body, enabling us to gain a comprehensive understanding of overall body function. Targeted Care for Lasting Results By incorporating applied kinesiology into our practice, we aim to provide targeted and tailored care for each of our people. During initial exams, we use AK to assess basic muscle strength, laying the foundation for a thorough understanding of your body’s unique needs. For ongoing care, we utilise the full AK method as needed, allowing us to continually monitor your progress and make precise adjustments to support your well-being. Applied Kinesiology uses functional assessment measures such as posture and gait analysis, manual muscle testing as functional neurologic evaluation, range of motion, static palpation, and motion analysis. These assessments are used in conjunction with standard methods of diagnosis, such as clinical history, physical examination findings, laboratory tests, and instrumentation to develop a clinical impression of the unique physiologic condition of each patient, including an impression of the patient’s functional physiologic status. When appropriate, this clinical impression is used as a guide to the application of conservative physiologic therapeutics. Who we treat Licensed healthcare professionals use Applied Kinesiology to identify the source for muscle and joint pain as well as structural and gastrointestinal issues which can often be treated. Many patients with complex conditions have turned to Applied Kinesiology when nothing else has worked for them. Experienced AK professionals around the globe are safely relieving the suffering related to the debilitating effects of injury, pain, anxiety, depression, fibromyalgia, adrenal fatigue, PTSD, IBS and more, bringing unexpected hope and relief. The nervous system is the master system of the body; the brain is its powerhouse. It controls everything: every feeling, movement and physiological process. When stress overwhelms its ability to adapt and release this pressure, symptoms may result. AK allows us to tailor care specifically to your needs, often finding imbalances before they become a full-blown problem. Developed by the late Dr George Goodheart in the 1960s, AK is now used by many types of healthcare practitioners. A unique blend of various disciplines, AK uses a series of tests to determine imbalances within vertebrae, cranium, peripheral joints, ligaments, organs, tendons, posture, gait, acupuncture meridians, reflexes, and neurological signs to guide diagnosis and patient care, offering a deeper understanding of the root cause of your health problem Establishing Better Communication Our bodies want to be well and constantly communicate with us, trying to bring us back into balance. Unfortunately, we can’t always understand what it’s saying. That’s where applied kinesiology comes in – muscle testing allows us to translate the body’s wisdom better. It’s a noninvasive way to quickly and accurately assess your health needs instead of guessing based on symptoms. This unique insight into your health, drawn from this muscle testing, allows us to select from various healing modalities, including Chiropractic, Functional Biochemistry/Naturopathy and massage Therapy. Our holistic approach to health helps restore the body’s innate self-healing abilities and create wellness from within.

Neuro Emotional Technique
(NET)
At Evolving Health Chiropractic, we understand that true healthcare goes beyond just addressing physical stress and injury. We recognize the crucial role emotional stress plays in our daily lives. Emotional stress, just like physical stress, can have a profound impact on your well-being and overall health. That’s why we’re proud to offer a unique approach to holistic care through Neuro Emotional Technique (NET). Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) is a powerful non invasive stress relief tool, backed by science, used by healthcare professionals worldwide. It helps identify and release emotional stressors that may be affecting physical health. By addressing stressors, NET promotes overall well-being and enhances the body's natural healing process. Perfect for those seeking a holistic approach to health, NET is a trusted method for achieving emotional and physical balance. NET specifically works with the ‘physiology’ of emotional/stress responses. Extensive scientific research over the past several decades has verified that an emotional/stress expression is a complex reactive pattern of changes in response to a stimulus. This includes changes in neuronal chemistry and neurological, vascular, and muscular tone. The type and intensity of the reaction may occur in response to a specific person or event and may involve widespread physiological changes, such as increased heart rate and inhibition of peristalsis. When doing NET, the practitioner uses a functional neurology manual muscle test as a tool to help identify involuntary physiological responses. In this way, the muscle test is used as a gauge of autonomic reactivity to given physical and/or verbal stimuli. Resolution of a Neuro Emotional Complex can occur by restoring homeostasis and allowing for the normal extinction of a conditioned emotional response. NET is not counseling While NET acknowledges the importance of addressing emotional stress, it’s essential to clarify that it is not a substitute for traditional counseling or talk therapy. Instead, NET works in harmony with these therapeutic methods to provide a holistic approach to healing and self-improvement. Through NET, you can address emotional stress on a physical level, enabling you to move forward in your healing journey. What the Literature Says About Neuro Emotional Technique Results from a 2017 study of patients with traumatic stress symptoms demonstrated significant changes in the NET group (as compared to the control group) in the functional connectivity between the cerebellum, the amygdala, and parahyppocampus, as well as reductions in autonomic reactivity based on heart rate response to the traumatic stimulus. In another 2021 published study, NET or control treatments were given twice weekly for 4 weeks to patients with chronic low back pain. Compared to the placebo group, patients receiving the NET treatment showed clinical and statistical significance with declines of virtually all pain markers, as well as showed positive gains in quality-of-life indicators. When Should You Consider NET? Neuro Emotional Technique can be a great addition to regular chiropractic care, particularly when your nervous system is having a hard time overcoming a stressful event or managing chronic stress. If you experience symptoms like anxiety, unexplained physical pain, or other health issues that seem rooted in emotional stress, NET may provide the relief and healing you seek. Experience the Benefits of NET at Evolving Health Chiropractic At evolving health Chiropractic, we are dedicated to your overall well-being and understand that emotional stress is an integral part of your health journey. Dr Christina are here to guide you through the process of healing using Neuro Emotional Technique, along with traditional chiropractic care, to ensure your body and mind are in harmony. Ready to take the next step towards a healthier, more balanced life? Retained Neonatal Reflexes
In the womb and in early life, when the decision making process has not fully developed, your brainstem has several reflexes called ‘primitive’ reflexes. After birth these reflexes can be referred to as ‘neonatal’ reflexes. They help you grow properly and safely. For example, they help you in the birthing process, with breast feeding and when grasping on to things. As you mature these reflexes are no longer needed so they take a ‘back seat’ and the higher brain takes control. This is a normal and essential stage of your development which allows for you to perform the more complex tasks required in classroom learning, movement control and social interactions. However, anything that interferes with normal neurodevelopment, such as birth trauma and CNS inflammation, may allow these reflexes to remain dominant. THIS IS A RETAINED NEONATAL REFLEX. This can result in your nervous system having an automatic and inappropriate response to normal day to day environmental stimuli. This is how retained neonatal reflexes can adversely affect your development, learning and behaviour. Primitive reflexes are each triggered, or elicited, by a certain stimulus. That stimulus, whether it be a turning of the head, an imposing loud noise, or a sensation on the body, forces the body to reflexly react in a predictable way. Primitive reflexes are ‘covered up’ or inhibited by the upper cortical brain as it develops. The cortical brain doesn’t just grow as we grow, it develops as we develop. Our movement and enriching experiences create more connections in our brains which strengthens and grows our upper higher brain. Primitive reflexes can be most evident when the cortex, or higher brain, is lacking integrity or development such as in nervous systems that are: – Underdeveloped, such as in infancy and when still growing in early childhood. It is important to have these primitive reflexes present in early life and are usually checked for by neonatal nurses and paediatricians. However it’s not usual practice to be assessed to see if these reflexes have disappeared after their ‘usual phase of integration’. – Degenerating such as in the elderly where the upper, more evolved brain may be suffering from neurodegeneration. – Damaged such as in the case of head knocks, falls or injuries or in cases where the cerebrospinal fluid which nourishes the brain is not moving effectively for optimal brain development. Primitive reflexes are predictable. Stimulus to the body > via the Brainstem > Reflex Reaction We aim to have the body integrate these reflexes so that the nervous system acts like this: Stimulus to the body > via the Cortical Brain > Voluntary Response

Functional Nutrition
At Evolving Health chiropractic, we believe in your body’s remarkable ability to restore itself. That’s why our practice offers functional nutrition, which is the art and science of using natural remedies to assist in the healing of body, mind and spirit. We’ve found that many presenting structural problems are often linked to biochemical, visceral (the organs) or emotional issues. That’s why we’ve integrated these techniques into our practice, allowing our patients to heal more holistically. At evolving health we use a combination of history, physical examination and advanced muscle testing techniques for precise diagnoses. Dr Christina offers Functional Biochemistry, using these methods to quickly and accurately identify complex issues like gut health and hormonal, sleep and behavioural disorders. Ideally our bodies get everything it needs when you eat a well balanced diet. In New Zealand our soil is depleted in certain minerals. As a result, people tend to be deficient in Zinc, Magnesium, Selenium and Iodine. You may be eating foods normally rich these vitamins and co-factors but are not getting proper nourishment due to a number of things. It may as result of depleted soils, a reaction to herbicides, an imbalance in the gut, or the nervous system may not be functioning optimally which ultimately affects nourishment. At evolving health chiropractic we use Applied Kinesiology or muscle testing to determine what nutrients each unique body is specifically needing and provide a practitioner-only range of natural supplements along with nutritional guidance to help bring the body back into balance. We will test with the food or nutritional supplement directly for best results. We also use out of house laboratory testing (urine or saliva tests) for confirmation of hormonal, adrenal or nutritional deficiencies or imbalances. Nutritional guidance along with chiropractic adjustments is part of our holistic approach to wellness at evolving health chiropractic.
